Recently, Eindhoven professor Tanja Lange published, together with Daniel Bernstein and article in Nature about the downsides of quantum computers and the current encryption.

One of the lines in the article triggered me:

“An attacker can record our secure communication today and break it with a quantum computer years later. All of today’s secrets will be lost”.

Quantum computers are so powerful when it comes to number crunching, they can crack our most secure RSA’s within hours instead of years.
