Part 2: The middle part :-)

For a couple of weeks now it has become a habit to go to my in law family’s house and work on the Guzzi for a couple of hours. My Father in law and a nephew are very helpful and also work on the motor bike during the week if they chose so.
Being the old leady she is, she needs a lot of attention and care to prepare for a first start.
So its’wonderful that other people also want to help.

puting in new oil for the first time in 17 years

In de last weeks we put alot of effort into the electric wiring and connectors. It is realy showing 50 years of deterioration. In several cables we found so much corrosion on the connectors that the cooper was not conducting anymore. We cleaned all the connectors with scotchbrite and alot of electric issues were solved.

under the dashboard…
inside the headlight

After some more fiddling around and reading the (super easy!) electric scheme, we saw the first sparks on the spark plugs!

In the mean time the co0mpletely serviced carburates were also install back on the motor bike, bringing us realy close to “FSC” (First start Celabration).

Last monday my father in law and nephew cleaned the inside of the tank, reconnected everything and gave it a first try, but no celibration yet!
1 cylinder is running, the other one is refusing to participate. There is a spark, there is petrol, but it seems like the camshaft timing is off… So that is work for coming saturday.
